Prescriptions

The NHS App is a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet.

Non-urgent advice: Please note

This service is only for medications that your Doctor has agreed to prescribe on repeat.

We aim to get these repeat prescriptions ready for collection within two working days of you requesting them. New medications, past medications and controlled drugs may need more scrutiny and may take longer to issue.

All medications have the potential to harm and we work hard to ensure that safety is paramount.

Delays in issuing medication can arise when medications change or we need to review your script.

How can a repeat script be requested?

  • The best way to order your repeat prescriptions is using the NHS app. You can use the link at the top of this page. You can also request by emailing: nclicb.prescriptions.f83664thevillagepractice@nhs.net
  • If there is change to your repeat medication in terms of dose / new meds, please complete an online form.
  • If you need support accessing the NHS app please click here.

What we may not accept or may take longer to process

  • Handwritten requests – the reason for this is that drugs are often spelt wrongly, doses are incorrect and confusion can arise.
  • Telephone requests to reception will not be accepted unless you are housebound, severely frail or have a valid reason for not being able to request through the routes described above.

If you are housebound/elderly, please discuss with us and we will set up a system that is manageable for you.

How can you help us?

  • Attend regular medication reviews when required.
  • Attach copies of blood tests required before a script can be issued (for example INR for warfarin). Please ask a member of the reception team if any queries about this.
  • By telling us about changes in medication from other sources, for example consultants. Usually we get correspondence about this but sometimes there can be a time delay between your attendance at clinic and us getting information. If you have written confirmation about changes, please do not hesitate to let us know.
  • Let us know when you do not wish to take a medication / side effects are intolerable. We would like to make decisions about medications jointly with you.
  • Order your medication on time. If it is very early (more than 2 weeks before due) or late, we may need to discuss this with you.

Medicines and Sustainability

  • At the Village Practice we’re committed to both your health and the health of the environment. Medicines play a significant role in healthcare’s carbon footprint, plus practices across the NHS estimate up to £300 million annually is lost due to unused medicines.
  • By only ordering what you need, returning unused or expired medication to the pharmacy and attending your regular medication reviews you can help us reduce waste whilst improving your care. See more information here.
