Appointments

At Village we have designed a system to ensure you get seen by the right person when you need to. There are different clinics and appointment types for different problems and we ask patients to read the information below to ensure you get the best experience and the most speedy appointment.

If you would like more information please speak to Reception or book an appointment with one of our team leaders in our Patient Advice and Liaison clinic where you can ask questions on how best to use our services. An interpreter can be arranged too.

NEED HELP AND CANT GET AN APPOINTMENT?

If you are unable to get an appointment please speak to a member of Reception who can discuss your condition and advise on the best way forward and the best person to see. If you still need help or advice please e mail the Practice Manager directly at Amanda.meehan3@nhs.net or make an appointment in the Patient advice and liaison clinic with one of the administrative team leaders

New Problems or Problems that have got worse – Quick Access

If you have a medical problem that is new or has got worse, then you can access our daily Quick Access Clinic. The clinic is run by multiple healthcare professionals including HCAs and Clinical Assistants, Trainees and GPs. This clinic is available from 8.30am until 10.30am Monday to Friday. The clinic operates a ‘first come first served’ system, however if you call us we can estimate a time in the morning for you to come in when it is less busy.

For minor illnesses such as coughs, colds, cystitis,  please attend the local pharmacies where they will be happy to help you. Pharmacies are much more equipped to help with minor illness and often have a better knowledge of ‘over the counter’ products which will help you feel better more quickly. If you are concerned about the cost then please ask a pharmacist regarding the minor ailments scheme and you can access free medication if you are entitled.

Please be aware that due to the rota system we use, we are unable to offer patients an urgent appointment with their named doctor although our team of doctors regularly communicate with each other regarding your care.

Please note we will not complete any administrative forms during consultations. Please put your request in writing and we will usually get this done within 10 working days. We have fit note request forms in reception and these usually take 5 working days

Routine or Regular GP Appointments

Appointments run throughout the day between 07.00 till 19.30.

Please note due to a 20% non attendance ( DNA) rate for these appointments we are operating an 8 day release for these appointments. We very much value your support in helping us reduce these wasted appointments.

These appointments are for non urgent medical problems such as a discussion on fertility. They are not for patients who are unwell which is the Quick Access Clinic  and they are not for follow ups for long term conditions which operate under a different appointment type and can be booked via the Secretaries.

For Routine Appointments you can make an appointment in person at reception, by telephoning the surgery or online. It is generally easier to telephone after 12:00 to get a routine appointment.

Please note if you have been asked by your doctor to book a follow up appointment, these operate under a different appointment system and can be booked by speaking to a member of Reception

The easiest method is to book via the online appointment booking system, where you can use the system 24 hours a day.

Although we do our best to make sure you see your regular doctor, you may be required to see another member of the doctor team. Please be rest assured, all our doctors have access to your full medical history and will discuss any issues with your regular doctor if this is necessary. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

If you are 16 or younger, you do not have to be seen with a parent or guardian, but it may be a good idea to tell them that you are coming for an appointment

Telephone Advice

If you wish to talk to the doctor or nurse for telephone advice we offer on the day telephone consultations via our duty doctor service.  Please phone the surgery and explain the reason you need a call back to the Reception Team who will let you know if this is an appropriate appointment.

Please note if you wish for a named doctor to call you back, our practice policy is this will happen within 10 working days. This is for non urgent queries.

Routine Appointments

We offer routine appointments between 07.00 and 19.30, please book via the online appointment system or via telephone or in person.

At the Practice we offer a permanent team of doctors and a named GP for all our patients. We also promote continuity of care for all our patients. Please ask a member of the team for your named GP.

Clinics are usually bookable 4-6 weeks in advance.

We are delighted to announce we now offer a commuter clinic twice a week between 6.30 and 7.00 pm! Please note these appointments are only available online.

Long Term Condition Checks ( Month of Birth Appointments)

If you have a long term condition such as diabetes, COPD or a mental health issue you will be called in for an appointment tailored to your individual needs in the month of your birthday. This appointment may be with multiple health professionals.

For more information speak to Reception or one of the Secretaries.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend at the arranged time, please contact the reception so that they can give the appointment to someone else and arrange a new one for you. Any non-attendance is recorded in your records.

Chaperones

If you would like a chaperone during any appointment at the Practice please ask a member of the team who will arrange a fully trained member of staff to accompany you.

Please note we are a training practice and you may be offered an appointment either in person or online with one of these trainees. Please note these are either FY2 or ST level who are fully qualified doctors and work with one of our partners. If you do not wish to see one of these doctors, please inform reception.
