Important Patient Information
We would like to say a huge thank you to our patients and neighbours for their patience and understanding whilst we have undergone our new refurbishment.
As most of our patients will be aware we started the project in April 2021 and 17 months later we are so close to the end with completion planned for October 2022.
Building Update
So what have we done and why?
We have extended the back of our west wing to build 4 brand-new clinical rooms and refurbish 2 existing ones. If you have already been into the newly opened west wing, you will have seen we have benefitted from a brand new, bright and open space with new equipment and a brand new minor surgery room which also turns into our First Contact Physio’s space. This has allowed us to have more spaces to operate more enhanced services for the community and other practice as well as our Practice.
What is left to do?
We have extended the back of our west wing to build 4 brand-new clinical rooms and refurbish 2 existing ones. We have been able to look at how we can reduce our carbon footprint with LED lights on sensors, improved bin services as well as heat pumps.
Patient Services
Why Patient Services and not Reception?
As part of the Practice’s transformation, we wanted to remove the stigma of the GP receptionist, and have taken the decision to open our Reception with a brand new name and identity, as their title did not reflect the enormous work that the team do for both fellow staff and patients. They are not ‘just receptionists’ but they are vital and valued members in our practice that not only book appointments and take calls, but handle all administrative duties relating to prescriptions, registrations, patient records, audits and policies, ensuring that all patient samples are sent correctly to the lab and much much more whilst always wishing the best for our patients and ensuring their safety.
But why do they ask me loads of questions, I just want to speak to a doctor?
We have so many professional and skilled Clinicians in the practice, aside from our GPs, who include our prescribing Pharmacists, First-Contact Physios, Drug and Alcohol Workers, Social Prescribers, Paediatric Nurse, Clinical Psychologist and our excellent Nursing team. Patient Services direct you to the triage doctor who will review and assign you to the appropriate clinician/service, so you can be seen and aided promptly.
Please remember our Patient Services Team are here to help and not to put barriers up; and quite often the more information they are given the more personalised care they are able to offer.
How busy are the doctors though?
Onn average, we currently receive 180-420 telephone calls per day and our average waiting time is 1 minute on most days although our longest recorded wait time has been 15 minutes, which we are so sorry when this does happen. We are one of the only practices who allow on the day calls for appointments until 11am so please be patient and remember your care is important to us and we hope to continue improving after our grand re-opening in October!
